Itinerary day by day

Day 1

Welcome to Rwanda!

Upon your arrival at Kigali Airport, our safari driver will be there to greet you and provide a brief overview of your trip. You’ll then be transferred to your accommodation in Kigali, which takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Once settled, you can relax and prepare for your safari adventure the next day. Our driver will ensure you’re comfortable and ready for an exciting and memorable exploration of Rwanda’s stunning landscapes and wildlife.

Day 2

Transfer to Akagera National Park from Kigali

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, your safari guide will meet you for a brief overview of the day. You’ll then embark on a 2.5-hour drive to Akagera National Park, with scenic landscapes along the way. Feel free to ask your guide for photo stops. Upon arrival at the park, you’ll check into your accommodation, enjoy lunch, and then set out for a short game drive. During this drive, you’ll look for big mammals such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, various antelope species, and the newly reintroduced lions and rhinos. The park’s diverse habitats are home to over 500 bird species, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise. Later, you’ll take a sunset boat trip on Lake Ihema to see hippos, crocodiles, and water buffaloes, and possibly elephants along the shore. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Full day game drive and transfer back to Kigali

Start your day with an early breakfast at the lodge and arrange for a picnic lunch. Then, meet your safari guide and embark on a full-day game drive to the northern part of the park. As you explore, you’ll have the chance to spot a wide array of wildlife. During the day, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch. Continue your game drive until you reach the northern exit of the park. Afterward, you’ll drive back to Kigali and be dropped off at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

Transfer for Volcanoes National Park.

Meet your guide at 4:30 am at your Kigali hotel for a brief overview of the day. Then, drive approximately 2.3 hours to Musanze. Upon arrival, head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing from the park ranger at the RDB Office before starting your Mount Bisoke hiking adventure. The hike will take you to the summit of Bisoke Volcano, which stands at 3,711 meters above sea level, where you can admire the stunning Crater Lake. The trek typically lasts 5 to 7 hours, depending on the group’s fitness and hiking experience. After the hike, return to your hotel for refreshments, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5

Golden Monkey trekking and transfer to Gisenyi for sunset boat ride

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a trek to see golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. You’ll meet your guide at the park headquarters before heading into the forest, where the walk takes you through scenic local villages and tea plantations. Once you locate the monkeys, you’ll spend an hour observing them as they play, eat, and swing from the trees. The trekking procedures are similar to those for gorilla trekking but are generally less strenuous. After the trek, return to your hotel for lunch, then transfer to Gisenyi. There, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Kivu, taking in the lake’s beautiful scenery, islands, and birdlife. Finally, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6

Departure

After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Kigali and have lunch. If time allows, you can take a Kigali city tour, which includes a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi, art galleries, and the local market. After the tour, head to the airport for your afternoon flight. This will conclude your tour.
